Dental device NFC tag installer/packager

Automated irregular dental part handling device

This highly complex machine is able to insert an NFC tag into a dental component, electronically test the tag, print logo and part number on the part, sterilizes the product, then place and seal it in a sterile plastic bag. The final part is used in dental offices to eliminate the need for numbing painkillers prior to giving novocaine injections in the patient's gums. The device induces a vibration to allow a dental needle to enter the gum painlessly.

One of the biggest challenges of this project was in orienting and maintaining orientation of an irregularly shaped part, to make it possible to automate the injection of a Near Field Chip (NFC) into the part. Our client thinks we're geniuses. We are also assisting in the development of a stare-of-the-art NFC tag reader.
